Why sustainable transport? Globally we use the car more than any other form of transport. Over-reliance on cars is having catastrophic impacts on our health and the environment.
Sustainable transport such as cycling, walking, public transport, scooters and car pooling causes far less emissions and consumes far less resources getting you from A to B. Sustainable transport is also more cost effective, and in the case of walking and cycling, beneficial for your health and social life. The Sunshine Coast region covers a large area and for most people it is impossible to ditch the car permanently. TravelSmart Sunshine Coast encourages you to replace one car journey a week with a sustainable transport option or park the car 1-2km away from your destination and walk or cycle the remaining distance. We need to alter the way we think about cars. Driving is a privilege, not a right. A journey taken out of the car is a journey towards a better future. Together we can make a difference. Get involved and be TravelSmart.
