The TravelSmart Noosa Destinations program encourages visitors as well as staff at the selected destination to use environmentally-friendly transport options as an alternative to motor vehicle use.

Any popular destination can be more TravelSmart. For example shopping precincts, universities, or tourist spots which attract thousands of visitors or customers each week and generate considerable traffic.

Being part of a TravelSmart Noosa Destinations program benefits the participating organisations, the community and the environment.

Tewantin CBD- Noosa's first Destinations program

The TravelSmart Noosa Destination program will encourage visitors and customers to the Tewantin CBD as well as people who work in Tewantin to consider, where possible, using environmentally-friendly modes of transport such as walking, cycling, public transport, car pooling, to get to and from the Tewantin CBD.

The primary aims of the Tewantin TravelSmart Noosa Destination Program are:

  • To reduce Vehicle Kilometres Travelled (VKT) to and from the Tewantin CBD and to increase the number of staff, customers and visitors cycling, walking, catching public transport and car pooling to Tewantin.
  • To protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • To reduce the need for additional road space and car parking.
