Scooter Noosa
|
Do you want to put a 'real' smile on your dial? Jump on a scooter, hit the throttle and enjoy the ride. You can ride most 50 cc scooters on a car licence. Noosa has a climate and ambience that is particularly suited to the use of scooters and motorcycles as an alternative form of transport in preference to the motor-car. Our vision is 'To promote scooter and motorcycle riding as a fun, safe, accessible and environmentally friendly mode of transport in the Noosa Shire.' |

Noosa Council has recently completed a Scooter and Motorcycle Strategy. The purpose of the strategy is to encourage the increased use of responsible scooter and motorcycle riding as a sustainable form of transport along with other TravelSmart Noosa initiatives such as walking, cycling and community transport.
Motorcycles can be defined as any two-wheeled motorised vehicles. A motor scooter is either a fully automatic or manual gear controlled two-wheel vehicle with a step floor, however, there are some variations. In designs, engine capacities vary from 50 cc to 650 cc. The reason that scooters are commonly not treated as a motorcycle is simply because they are generally smaller and slower than motorcycles. As scooters have evolved, some designs have moved to a sportier look that are closer in appearance to a motorcycle whilst other designs have maintained their origins and keep their manual clutch and gear arrangement. Electric powered motors are a form of motorisation as are petrol powered engines.
Research is now validating that even mall behavioural change, like using scooters for a portion of one's commuting, can benefit the economy and help address critical environmental issues like global warming.
