Free Holiday Buses Free Holiday Buses are back! From 26 December 2011 to 8 January 2012 Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with TransLink, are providing FREE public transport for everyone on the Sunshine Coast, proudly funded by the Public Transport Levy. The Free Holiday Bus program is an initiative of council’s Sustainable Transport Strategy. The aim of the program is to increase patronage on public transport services and reduce traffic congestion across the coast during our busiest season. Free services include: · All Sunshine Coast Sunbus services (28 routes) · Glasshouse Country Coaches (Hinterland Connect and Maleny-Landsborough-Beerwah services) · All Flexilink services (Boreen Point to Tewantin, Conondale to Witta to Maleny, Kenilworth to Mapleton and Peachester to Beerwah) · All Council Cabs services Note: normal booking procedures apply to Flexilink and Council Cabs services. History of the Free Holiday Buses Free Holiday Buses came about in 1999/2000 in an effort to reduce traffic congestion in the busy Noosa Hastings Street precinct. It was initially a park & ride service, shuttling passengers from the Noosa Australian Football Club in Weyba Road to Hastings Street.
