TravelSmart Communities Program TravelSmart Communities projects encourage entire suburbs or areas to change the way they travel and to be less reliant on solo car trips. This is done by providing information of localised public transport, cycling, walking and carpooling; enabling residents to make as many trips as possible using these more sustainable travel options. Sunshine Coast TravelSmart Communities projectAbout 72 000 households in the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture regions were encouraged to take part in the Sunshine Coast TravelSmart communities project which was delivered by Urbantrans ANZ Pty Ltd on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads. From February 2010, households from the Sunshine Coast, Caboolture, Morayfield and Burpengary were contacted by the TravelSmart team to take part in the project. Independent evaluation of the three TravelSmart projects is being undertaken by Brisbane-based company Worley Parsons Services Pty Ltd and results are yet to be released.
